Our journey started roughly a half a decade ago, with a need to understand food first and foremost. Due to dietary issues in our own household, we came to appreciate the value of learning about and enjoying wholesome foods. Being able to participate in the process of growing food for ourselves made a world of difference in the health of our family, so sharing our story and homegrown goodness with others became a goal that we are passionate about.
From Our Garden to Your Table
Producing such exceptional food our immediate family for the past five years and realizing the impact its had on our overall health inspired our family to begin producing for the local community as well. As of 2019 we have scaled our operation to provide fresh produce for people in our surrounding communities.
The Squarefoot Method
We farm with a method known as “High Intensive” or “High Rotation” planting, meaning we choose from plants that grow to maturity with vigor. Selecting crops with 20-60 days from seed to harvest ensures we get the most out of the growing season. This technique allows us rotate our beds three to four times a year, and gives us the ability to adapt to changing demand. Our crops are grown strictly with organic methods to provide the best quality produce to the communities of Allegheny and Beaver Counties.
Squarefoot Gardens is situated in Ambridge, PA, just north of the city Pittsburgh. Our delicious and nutritious produce can be found in several local grocery stores and are on hand weekly offering our produce at many local farmers markets. Find out when and where in our Upcoming Events.
